BUFFALO (LGS) — Jaroslav Spacek could easily be having the best season in his career if not for injuries, or at least one injury in particular.
Spacek returned to the Sabres lineup yesterday after missing five games with a sprained shoulder. He assisted on both of Buffalo's third period power play goals, lifting his season point total to eight (4G, 4A).
Unfortunately, Spacek's shoulder remains an issue as the Sabres defenseman will miss tonight's game after re-aggravating the injury in last night's overtime loss in Boston.
Newly-signed free agent Nolan Pratt will get his first start in a Sabres uniform tonight when the Sabres host Florida at the HSBC Arena. The 32-year-old defenseman will wear number 4 for the Sabres.
Ryan Miller, who let in two soft goals last night and has been average at best this season, will get the night off as Jocelyn Thibault will get his second start in goal for the Sabres. Thibault won his first start in Buffalo's 5-4 overtime victory over Toronto a few weeks ago.
Michael Ryan will also make his way back into the lineup after sitting out a couple of games. Andrew Peters will be a healthy scratch.
Tonight will also mark a milestone for head coach Lindy Ruff. Ruff will become the 31st coach in NHL history to reach the 750-game mark. He is currently ninth on the list for games coaches with one team.
