Neale Joins MSG
Harry Neale to replace Lorentz in Sabres' broadcast booth

BUFFALO (LGS) — It appears the Buffalo Sabres have found a replacement for the recently retired Jim Lorentz. CBC and Leafs TV commentator Harry Neale is expected to be announced today as the Buffalo Sabres new color commentator; that according to various reports coming out of Toronto.

Neale, who resides locally in East Amherst, is more widely known for his role as Bob Cole's color commentator on CBC's Hockey Night In Canada. Neale will still continue to appear on HNIC meaning the Sabres will still need to find substitutes for Saturday night games.

Prior to his broadcasting career, the 70-year-old was a NHL head coach for the Detroit Red Wings and Vancouver Canucks.

Neale, who has a soothing and comforting hockey voice, is known for his insight and sense of humor, something that has always been with him.

One of Neale's most famous quotes came from his coaching days in Vancouver in 1980: "Last season, we couldn't win at home and we were losing on the road. My failure as a coach was that I couldn't think of any place else to play."
